
Holly
Cook, M.S., CCC-SLP
Executive Director
Holly Cook is the Executive Director of Cook Speech and Language. She
received her undergraduate degree in Communications
and Business from the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas and her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology
from the University of Nevada, Reno. Mrs. Cook
has over eight years experience in the field of
communication disorders and has worked in both
the private practice and school-based settings. Her
areas of interest include studying normal and disordered
child language and phonology (i.e. sound system)
development, family-centered services, parent training,
early intervention services, and children with
specific language impairment as well children with
autism spectrum disorder.
Mrs. Cook holds the Clinical Certificate of Competence from the American
Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). This certification involves
not only completion of a master’s degree but also
a supervised clinical fellowship and passing a
national examination. Holly
also holds a California State License for Speech
Pathology. She
is a member of several associations including the
American Speech and Hearing Association, as well
as the California Speech and Hearing Association. She
has presented at conventions for ASHA on topics
such as child language development and insurance
advocacy for stuttering.
Family-centered services have played a huge part in her background
training and clinical experiences. While attending the University
of Nevada, Reno, Holly participated in training for the Hanen It Takes
Two to Talk language program. She became a Hanen Certified Speech
Pathologist and includes these training techniques for parents in every
aspect of clinical practice. Her experience and expertise in this area
includes training parents and caregivers on the use of daily routines
to help their child’s language development.
When not busy working, Holly enjoys cooking, playing with her two
cats, home improvement projects, and spending time
with her husband, Brien, who is the Director of
Operations for Cook Speech and Language.
